APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Preparation of the product
Mix a 20 kg bag of MapePave Slurry with 6.4 litres of water for at least 5 minutes with a mechanical mixer and paddle.
The mix must be applied to the MapePave Mortar fresh on fresh and should also be applied to the rear of the installing paver.
CONSTRUCTION METHOD WHEN INSTALLING PORCELAIN PAVERS
Bases must be constructed with stability and not prone to settlement.
Tiles installed on concrete bases can be installed in accordance with BS5385 part 3.
If the mortar is to be used on a concrete surface for levelling purposes the mortar should be installed 10mm – 100mm and bonded to the concrete surface with the MapePave Slurry. Once the substrate has been prepared sufficiently, and immediately before spreading on the MapePave Mortar mix, prepare bonding slurry MapePave Slurry. Apply a continuous, even 2-3 mm layer using a large flat brush, a scrubbing brush or a trowel. To ensure adhesion, spread the slurry onto the surface to be covered immediately before the MapePave Mortarmix (fresh screed on fresh slurry).
A type 1 MOT installation compacted by mechanical means at a minimum depth of 100mm with restraint should provide a suitable base for the MapePave Mortar when used in no vehicle trafficked locations.
The mortar should be applied at a thickness no less that 25mm on a compacted type 1 MOT.
Spread the MapePave Mortar mix just like any other cement-based screed mix: use screed guides, then spread the mix and tamp thoroughly before floating to obtain a better surface finish.
To get perfect adhesion between the Porcelain Paver and the MapePave Mortar, spread the MapePave Slurry while the MapePave Mortar is still fresh, ensuring that the back of the Paver is also completely covered (fresh on fresh technique).
Ensure surface is protected from rain or wash out until fully cured.
Joints can be grouted after 24 hours.
Do not install in temperatures lower than +5°C.
